Hundreds of people waited in lines outside a Tokyo store owned by operator Softbank Mobile and Apple's Ginza outlet, including some people who'd camped out overnight in anticipation of buying the new phone, the Nikkei Keizai Shinbun newspaper reported on its English Web site. The iPhone 4 went on sale at 8 a.m., Tokyo time.

The iPhone 4 will initially be available in the U.S., France, Germany, the U.K. and Japan, followed by other countries. By the end of September, the handset will be available in 88 countries.

The atmosphere was subdued at three French mobile phone stores in the La Défense business district to the west of Paris on Thursday morning. The Phone House was deserted. It still stocks the iPhone 3G and 3GS, but not yet the iPhone 4.

Three customers stood around an iPhone 4 on display in the store of mobile operator Orange. After prodding distractedly at the phone for a minute, one of the customers turned to the sales assistant and said: "OK, but what I really wanted was a protective slip-case for my iPhone 3G."
There were 22 people waiting outside the store of another operator, SFR, which had not yet opened at 9:45 a.m., local time. At least half a dozen of those in line already had iPhones in their hands. No one left the line when staff announced that the black iPhone 4 would not be in stock until Friday, while the white one would not arrive till July.

The Apple Store in the center of Paris planned to open two hours earlier than usual Thursday and Friday, primarily for customers who had placed an advance order for an iPhone 4 to pick theirs up.
Hundreds lined up outside the Apple Store in Fifth Avenue in New York, where the phone went on sale a little after 7 a.m. local time. The line stretched across blocks and had a festive atmosphere, with people cheering and sounding horns as sale time approached.

One customer in line thought the hardware and software changes on the iPhone 4 were big enough to attract this much attention.

"Everything has been upgraded, literally. It has a better look too," said Joe Duffy, the owner of Fusion Health Services in New York City. Duffy had been standing in line since 4.30 a.m. the previous day to get his hands on an iPhone.

There were also large lines stretching blocks outside another Apple Store located on West 14th street in New York, according to messages on Twitter.

In the U.S., the smartphone is priced at US$199 for a 16GB model and at $299 for a 32GB model, with two-year data plans. AT&T iPhone customers in the U.S. are eligible for that pricing if their current contract expires any time in 2010.

In Boston, there was an apparent miscommunication between the Apple Store and people waiting in lines overnight. The store said it would sell phones on a first-come, first-serve basis, but instead first let in about 20 people who reserved phones.

Tyler Greene tried to reserve the phone online, but couldn't because of AT&T server problems. He decided to wait in line instead and have fun, but expressed frustration with the experience.

"This line over here, most people have only been here for an hour or two and they're saying that they all get to go first and we might be able to stagger in ... and it frustrates us," Greene said.

"We're really dedicated fans and just because we didn't preorder doesn't mean we're not as dedicated. We're kind of getting treated like the stepchild," Greene said.
The iPhone 4 has already been declared a success prior to the device's availability in stores, but not without some hiccups. Apple and its U.S. carrier partner AT&T started taking iPhone preorders on June 15, but a big rush caused online ordering systems to collapse, leaving potential buyers frustrated and angry.

AT&T suspended taking orders the next day and Apple apologized to users, saying that demand for the iPhone 4 was "far higher than we anticipated." Apple and AT&T had taken orders for more than 600,000 iPhones, Apple said.

Lines started forming days in advance outside stores in Japan and the U.S. to purchase the device.
"First of all, the screen is so beautiful that you can't even see the dots," said Manayabu Ishiyama, who stood in a line outside a Softbank store in Tokyo. He was looking to upgrade from an iPhone 3G S.

People also lined up outside an Apple store in Boston a day ahead of the iPhone launch. Rain was forecast in the city for Thursday morning.

"I realize there are more important things going on in the world right now, but it's kind of fun to be out here," said Curtis Glavin, who was first in the Boston line.
The line formed much later for the midnight opening of the flagship Orange store on the Champs Elysées in Paris, however. The store was quiet late Wednesday afternoon, with no one waiting outside, but by the time the store reopened at midnight, a line of over 100 people had formed.
The iPhone 4 is thinner than its predecessors. The device is 9.3 millimeters (0.36 inches) thick, about 24 percent thinner than the iPhone 3GS. A 3.5-inch display shows images at a 960-pixel-by-640-pixel resolution, and about four times as many pixels in the same amount of space than earlier iPhones.

The device includes more than 100 new features, including a front-facing video camera for videoconferencing, a faster processor and improved multimedia capabilities. It promises longer battery life compared to earlier models, offering seven hours of talk time and six hours of Web browsing time over 3G networks. It also offers 10 hours of browsing over Wi-Fi networks, 10 hours of video playback and 40 hours of music listening.

The phone is powered by an internally developed A4 chip, which includes a processor core designed by Arm. The phone has a Micro-SIM tray on the side.
The new chip and front-facing video camera add strong multimedia capabilities that earlier models lacked. The smartphone will be able to record 720p video at 30 frames per second. For videoconferencing, Apple has introduced the FaceTime application for video calls, which will only work over Wi-Fi networks for now. Apple CEO Steve Jobs has said the company "needs to work" with carriers for the application to operate over cellular networks.

The videoconferencing addition is the "wild factor" that differentiates the iPhone 4 from its predecessors, said Duffy, a New Yorker who was in line in New York to purchase the iPhone. He isn't bothered by some perceived shortcomings, like a lack of Flash support.

"My business Web site is in Flash, and I can't see my own Web site, but it never really bothered me. I could see it on a laptop or ... my desktop," Duffy said.

The phone will run the Apple iOS 4, which was previously released as iPhone OS 4.0 beta in April. The new OS will bring true multitasking capabilities to run multiple applications at the same time. Previous phones were able to run only selected applications at the same time.

The new Motorola Droid X phone, with its slim profile and striking display, isn't setting a new kind of standard in industrial design. But it lacks in style, it makes up for with features, including an emphasis on high-definition video recording and playback.

The $200 Droid X (after a $100 rebate and with a two-year Verizon contract) will run using Google’s latest Android 2.2 Froyo operating system and will include Adobe Flash Player 10.1, following an update “late summer.”

There is a difference between the Droid X and the original Droid which is Droid X doesn’t have a physical keyboard. Instead its 4.3-inch display makes it one of the biggest touchscreens available among smartphones today.

The Droid X’s screen is just beautiful and incredibly responsive to touch. The display has a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels compared to 800 x 480 pixels on the HTC Evo. Placed side-by-side, the Evo’s display seemed brighter and more vivid.

But the Droid X’s touchscreen is a treat. It’s extremely responsive without crossing over into the annoyingly sensitive territory.

Unlike the Evo, which has its four Android buttons (Home, Menu, Back and Search) sleekly integrated into the frame, the Droid X has four physical buttons at the bottom of the phone and it is jarring. The matte black finish of the phone gives it a dull appearance compared to the glossy shine of the Evo.
Hot on the heels of getting leaked a wee bit early Microsoft has made official the rebadging of a device desperately seeking a new name: "Project Natal" is no more, replaced by Microsoft Kinect. At a circus- and celebrity-filled affair, MS wrapped everyone in high-tech panchos (pictured after the break courtesy of Joystiq) and then took the wraps off of the new title. Quite a few game demos were shown, ranging from Star Wars to tiger petting, the Kinect interface to the Dashboard was shown (said by some to be Minority Report-like), and a video chat app called, wait for it, Video Chat. Through here you can naturally talk to friends (up to four total people at once was "shown"), and also share photos.

Sadly, no hands-on time was given nor did MS reveal the two crucial bits of information we're waiting for: price and date. Naturally a holiday release is expected, to give the Xbox 360 a nice sales boost, but we're hearing price rumors as high as $150. These choice bits of intel will surely be unveiled at Microsoft's event tomorrow -- if someone doesn't beat 'em to it. The hardware is still looking exactly like the early picture above, shattering hopes of a slimmer design to match new Slim Xbox 360.

Update: We've got official photos now, though solid textual info is still scarce. Stand by!

Update 2: So we're out of the wild, cult-like experience that was Microsoft's Kinect unveiling. Microsoft still has a lot of details to reveal, but there are a few things we gleaned from watching the demos:

Almost everything was one person at a time, particularly in the Kinect Sports games. Even a game like beach volleyball or soccer was boiled down to individual "moments" of interaction that get strung together into some sort of competition. Even the running in place games were one at a time, though the river rafting and mining cart games (both with a similar mechanic of jumping and ducking through an obstacle course while picking up tokens) could be played with two people at a time. You can at least play games like volleyball simultaneously with someone else over Xbox Live.

An interesting mechanic we saw was a second player "jumping in" to a game. In the mining cart scenario, when the second player jumped in it immediately went split screen, while in soccer different players took turns by just jumping into position. Sure, some of this stuff was edited for our benefit, but it seems Microsoft is working to make the introduction of a second player or the switching between players something less button-heavy.

The Star Wars game was pretty badass-looking -- you play a Jedi, rushing down stormtroopers and deflecting laser bolts left and right, wielding a few Force powers, and confronting a certain deep-voiced Sith Lord for a one-on-one duel. Based on the gestures and action we saw, though, it was a pretty heavily scripted experience. Still, there's no scripting a two-handed light saber grip, and that particular action looked like everything we've ever wanted in a Star Wars game.

The yoga game is actually a pretty smart use of the infrared and joint detection software we espied previously. Positions were "checked" by points on the joint -- making it certainly harder to fake the moves on Wii Fit -- and it seemed to have a tai chi element to it. Your avatar glowed a more intense red based on your three-dimensional approximation -- bright red for hands stretched forward, for example.

Next up: Kinectimals, a baby tiger pet simulator. You can scratch its ears, snuggle, and teach the little guy to jump and play dead. Adorable? Dangerously so. No one can tell us the developer, but based on the lighting effects, art style, and similarities to the previously-shown Milo, we'd wager a guess that it was Lionhead Studios.

The Kinect menu interface is about as simple as could be. You wave your hand to control a glowing cursor of sorts, and you push forward to "click" on the element you want. Of course, there's also a very simplified version of the Dashboard to go along with this control mechanism, so it's unclear if you'll be able to do everything via subtle hand waves, but the Twitter, Facebook, Zune and Netflix icons were clearly present.

The MTV Games-developed Dance Central has some on staff divided -- only Ross will actually admit to being interested in playing it. A series of dance moves are presented, including elbow jabs, swinging leg, guitar, "rocking out" (with your hand in the air). The art style is akin to Rock Band / Guitar Hero, and to be fair, this is probably one of those games that can't be done as well on any other console.

Update 3: Video of family gameplay and media playback control added after the break. Come on, what else are you going to do until its November retail launch?
The G-Shock Mini is a fresh new series produced by Casio that is built for durability while still being chic and feminine. The G-Shock Mini is a spin-off of the original Casio G-Shock that has larger dimensions and a rugged design that appeals more to men. It is the perfect answer to those calling for the same durable traits as the G-Shock, but in a more compact and sophisticated style. Like its big brother, the G-Shock Mini series is water and shock resistant making it the trademark for style and strength.
R&B and Pop artist Rhianna has always been an icon of originality and glamor with her fashion designs, hairstyles, and trendy accessories. Recently in her new video “Rude Boy” she adorned a variety of Casio watches including G-Shock Minis. The timepieces were creatively connected to form a large voguish bracelet. The G-Shock Mini goes perfectly with Rhianna’s trendsetting sophisticated lifestyle, and if it is ready to meet the rigorous demands of her high power performances, it will be able to handle the daily wear of mine.
As mentioned, the G-Shock Mini GMN691 series is shock resistant and 100M water resistant. This is perfect for active sports such as jogging, kayaking, or swimming. The Mini has an EL backlight with an afterglow for checking information or the time in the dark. For the world travelers or a business conference in a different locality, you will always be punctual with the World Time feature of the Mini. This includes the times for 29 different time zones in 48 different cities, city code displays, and a daylight savings option.hebatscorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/15495777895745329013noreply@blogger.com0
